HIFU is a safe, nonsurgical ultrasound treatment that counteract the effects of time and gravity on your skin. The treatment uses the body’s own regenerative response to gently and gradually lift the skin on the eyebrow, under the chin, onto the neck and smooth lines and wrinkles on the décolletage.
HIFU treats the deep foundation layer addressed in cosmetic surgery, but won’t duplicate the results of the facelift. However, it is a great alternative, especially for those not ready for surgery, or clients looking to extend the effects of cosmetic surgery.
HIFU uses sound energy, which has unique properties that allow it to bypass the surface of the skin to treat depths not matched by any other non-invasive cosmetic device. HIFU stimulates collagen production in the skins foundation, resulting in a clinically significant lift of tissue over the following 2 to 3 months. Lasers rely on light energy, which cannot reach deeper skin layers as an optimal temperature, so laser treatments typically only treat superficial skin. Since the two technologies often treat different types of skin issues, they are very compatible.
During the treatment, the transducer head delivers and deposits focused ultrasound energy deep beneath the skin at the optimal temperature for collagen regeneration. The treatment jump starts a natural process, known as ‘neocollagenesis’, to produce fresh, new collagen. The treatment itself doesn’t involve any creams, fillers or toxins, it just relies on your body’s own collagen building process for natural, noticeable results.
The length of the treatment will depend on the area being treated and your individual treatment plan. The face and neck procedure typically takes between 60 to 120 minutes, while a chest treatment on its own may take approximately up to 60 minutes.
With a single HIFU treatment there is no down time. After your procedure, you can resume your normal activities immediately, without having to follow any special post treatment measures. We even have clients come in during their lunch break to have the treatment. No cream is required and a general skin care plan and make up can be applied as normal.
As the ultrasound energy is delivered, you will feel tiny amounts of energy being deposited to the precise depths, indicating that the collagen building process has been initiated. Comfort levels vary from person-to-person, but the sensation only lasts while the ultrasound energy is being delivered.
Most clients only need one treatment. However, as this may be based on the degree of skin laxity, the biological response to ultrasound energy and individual’s collagen-building process, some clients may benefit from an additional treatment. Because the skin continues to age, future touch-up treatments can help clients keep pace with the body’s natural ageing process.
A good HIFU candidate will have mild moderate skin laxity where the skin begins to look less firm. Examples include a lowered eyebrow line, loose skin on the neck, sagging under the chin and lines or winkles on the chest area. Of course, the best way to find out if you are suitable candidate is to consult with our practitioner.
The cost of the treatment can range depending upon the area being treated. Please get in touch to discuss.
The HIFU procedure has been used safely in over 450,000 treatments worldwide. Ultrasound energy itself has been used safely in the medical field for the 50 years.
The skin may appear flushed at first. This could be during a treatment but sometimes lasting longer. The redness should however disappear within a few hours. Some clients experiencing slight swelling, tingling or tenderness to the touch, but these are temporary in nature. Other, less common post-procedural effects may include temporary bruising or numbness in small areas of skin. As with any cosmetic procedure, there is a possibility of other rare effects, which your practitioner will review with you.
Yes, LED Light Therapy is perfectly safe. The equipment that we use is CE certified.
No, LED Light Therapy is painless. It is a non-invasive treatment that simply involves applying light to the face.
Yes. The blue LED light that is emitted by the LED encourages the production of singlet oxygen, which works to destroy bacteria that leads to the development of acne. Ask our therapist about tailoring LED Light Therapy to your needs when you come to our clinic for a consultation, as you may benefit from more exposure to blue light.
LED Light Therapy works by using two types of light. Red light focuses on reducing signs of ageing and decreasing any redness of the face. Blue light targets bacteria that causes acne.
First, your face will be cleaned to get rid of any make-up or cosmetic products that may interfere with the treatment. Then, a collagen mask is applied before the LED is placed over the face. All you have to do is sit back and relax! After the treatment, our therapists will apply our healing serum to the face, so your skin feels replenished.
LED Light Therapy lasts around 30 to 45 minutes.
Generally, our clients do not experience side effects from LED Light Therapy. Some clients notice that their skin appears a little red immediately after the treatment, however, this should fade within a day or two.
Most of our clients who have LED Light Therapy notice results in the first few days after the treatment. If you undergo a course of LED Light Therapy treatments, the effects are potentially long-lasting.
No. You may benefit from applying one of our recommended Serum to the face once a day after the treatment, which can help to stimulate the growth of collagen and keep the skin looking and feeling healthy.
Any part of the body that has stubborn fat. Stomach, lower back, legs, buttocks, arms, love handles, hips, thighs.
Radio frequency is an anti-aging and skin tightening treatment. RF is about stimulating your own collagen production that penetrates the epidermis and heats the dermis at a comfortable temperature. This causes the collagen fibers to contract that pulls and tightens the skin creating immediate results and long-term effects.
Areas of the body where there is sagging skin, lines and wrinkles, aging hands, stomach, lower back, legs, buttocks, arms, knees, love handles, hips, thighs and face.
There is NO downtime. Immediately after treatments clients can return to their normal activities.
For each appointment, it’s about 10 minutes up to 1 hour just depending on the area that’s being treated and if you are doing Ultrasonic or Radio Frequency or both. Please arrive at least 15 minutes early before treatment times to do consultations and measurements.
No not at all and requires no anaesthetic, no cutting and is non-invasive. The areas that are being treated will feel warm and have a warming sensation and redness that may appear occasionally. The only discomfort during the treatment is the buzzing that you will experience in your ears with the cavitation machine. The buzzing or ringing sound will normally stop when the cavitation part of the service is over however, some experience a faint buzzing or ringing after the treatment up to 24 hours but nothing painful from this service.
Cavitation does not affect the blood vessel, nerves or connective tissue so these treatments are completely safe with limited side effects. It is possible to experience redness, swelling, bruising or welting to the area that is being treated. Urinating right after or excessive thirst and nausea immediately after treatment but will shortly disappear by drinking water.
Ultrasonic Cavitation:
3 days apart for the first 3 sessions, then once a week
After the initial treatments are completed, maintenance treatments consist of one session each month for 4 months followed by one treatment every 4 months
Radio Frequency (RF):
If not combined with ultrasonic cavitation, generally once a week
Yes, most clients will experience noticeable circumference reduction immediately after the first session. However, results vary with each client. Oily skin will have better results than drier skin. Dry skin has less water molecules for the ultrasonic and RF waves to work with therefore it has less elasticity and more fragile. Keep your skin Moisturize and hydrate. Other factors are different tissue structure, treatment area, age, metabolism, medications, changes in hormones and physical activity.
No! Ultrasonic Cavitation nor Radio Frequency are methods to lose weight but to reshape the body. Because you are reducing fat deposits it is possible that you may experience some weight lost. This service is for clients that have stubborn fat that won’t go away with dieting and exercising. This is the perfect alternative to those looking to avoid the pain and cost of invasive liposuction procedures. Please note that these services are not used to treat obesity.
Minimum of 3 months after normal birth
Minimum of 6 months after C section
*Please consult with your doctor first before starting treatments*
No, only one area at a time can be treated. After each treatment session, your body needs time (72 hours) to eliminate the fat deposits. By doing more than one section at a time, this will not allow the body to properly dispose of the fat.
How long your results last is in your control. The fat cells that are being treated will not return however, how much you eat and how much you exercise will affect your long-term body shape. So, if you take in more calories than you’re used to, your weight and fat will increase and the permanent removal of fat cells from your treatment will be hidden by your weight gain.
Yes
3-12 sessions are need depending on what area that is being treated
The procedure is FDA approved as well as having full approval for medical use in Europe with CE- mark.
Classified as a class IIIA cosmetic laser, low level laser hair therapy meets all the international safety standards. Low level laser light is compressed light of a wavelength from the cold, red part of the spectrum of electromagnetic radiation. This differs from natural light as it is just one precise color; it is columnated, meaning it concentrates its light beam in a defined location or spot. This allows the laser light to penetrate with no heat, no damage, and no known side effects. The unique laser light penetrates into the scalp.
For several years, leading hair restoration clinics have been using ‘cold-beam’ laser technology for individuals that suffer from varying hair conditions. Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) works by increasing the blood flow to both the hair follicles and scalp. This encourages hair volume and a healthy head of hair.
Patients suffering from:
Our Hair Rejuvenation Therapy is not an outright cure for hair loss, however with frequent treatment sessions, patients can significantly stunt the loss of hair, and in the majority of cases stimulate new hair growth.
Patients must be aged 18 and over.
Yes, Hair Rejuvenation is suitable for both men and women.
Yes, however, we do not recommend Laser Hair Renewal while breastfeeding.
We recommend at least one treatment a week, although the number of sessions that produce visible results varies per person. We invite you to come in for a free consultation with one of our expert U.K Aesthetics Lounge specialists to establish a treatment plan tailored to you.
Laser Therapy is not a direct alternative to a hair transplant as it will not grow new hairs from inactive hair follicles. But, it can complement a hair transplant by preventing further hair loss, aid with the healing process, thicken thinning hairs surrounding the hair transplant and encouraging the newly transplanted hairs to grow through faster once they have initially shed.
Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) was discovered in 1967 by Hungarian researcher “Mester,” who found that a low-level laser increased hair growth on the backs of shaved mice. Since then, following successful clinical trials and advanced technology innovations, LLLT is now a proven method of preventing hair loss and stimulating hair growth in both men and women.
LLLT works by emitting energy from low-level lasers directly towards the scalp, promoting cellular metabolism due to the red-light wavelength within the laser spectrum. This metabolic reaction revitalises the scalp, leading to the formation of new blood vessels around hair follicles. As a result of this, there is an increase of oxygen and blood flow towards the hair follicles, creating active hair growth.
Hair grows from the follicle underneath the skin and is “fed” by blood vessels located at the base of the follicle, which gives it the nourishment to grow. Hair follicles typically undergo repetitive regenerative hair cycles, enabling hair to grow and renew. Each regenerative cycle consists of four stages:
Anagen (Growing Phase)
Rapid growth phase which determines the length of our hair. The anagen phase lasts 2-7 years.
Catagen (Transition Phase)
Transitional stage in which the hair follicle shrinks, signifying the end of active growth. Lasts for around 10 days.
Telogen (Resting Phase)
Resting phase for hair growth as follicles become lifeless and fall out. When the hair shaft falls out, the specific hair follicle becomes inactive for a period (2-3 months) before the growth cycle begins again.
Exogen (The Shedding Phase)
During the resting phase, approximately 50-150 hairs can fall out daily. This is considered to be normal hair shedding.
In some cases, direct cooling of a specific area may be more beneficial for client concerns than whole body cryotherapy. Using cooled gas streams, consisting of mainly cool air vapour, our technology can be used on an area of skin without affecting the surrounding tissues. The treatment takes as little as 1-2 minutes and up to 25 minutes for larger areas, the effect on the area is most spectacular. The extreme cold provides stimulus that activates physiological processes within the body, it can significantly help relieve pain and repair damaged tissue.
The treatment is excellent as a supporting therapy that is used directly on an area for improving chronic pain, inflammation, itching, an array of skin conditions and sports injuries. It’s also great for general vitality and rejuvenation, giving the skin a fantastic glow, improving scar tissue, stretch marks and cellulite. Also, the use of cryotherapy after an operation is quite common as it accelerates the healing process and improves any pain without high levels of medication and the accompanying side effects!
Professional athletes recover faster and perform at higher levels when cryotherapy is applied. Particularly over a direct injury using the Cryo local devices
It’s great for looking amazing as it improves the skins tone, texture and tightens if you have a special occasion or an event to prepare for. For the body it can even help you lose weight while simultaneously good for reducing cellulite as mentioned earlier.
The practitioner will move the nozzle (the low-temperature air stream) in smooth scanning movements/motions, keeping the nozzle at a distance of 2-4 cm from the skin. A typical area of 10×10 cm is treated approximately for 1 – 2 minutes, at a maximum intensity level of the air stream. You will be sat down or led down and you can relax while you feel the cool air touch the surface level of your skin.
Anywhere between a few minutes and half an hour. This will vary and depend on the area being treated, the size of area, and the what we are treating, for example if it’s for pain due to Injury or a cellulite treatment on a larger area.
No, you can go straight back to work afterwards, there is no downtime following treatment.
Firstly – Cryotherapy has been safely used for over 30 years.
Secondly – We wouldn’t personally use it ourselves every week if it wasn’t! Everything that we offer we have on ourselves as we think it’s that fantastic!
The very first time we had Cryotherapy we were a touch nervous and were thinking what must it feel like to be that cold but really oddly it doesn’t feel that bad! A temperature of -40˚C seems cold, however, remember the air is extremely dry. Therefore, you do not really experience the cold as unpleasant. Due to the fact the localised cryotherapy is actually reducing pain and inflammation in a typical treatment area, its actually a very nice relaxing sensation over the skin during delivery.
Obviously, this really depends on each individual person! However, once a week is a good starting point. For sports stars they may need to come in daily to speed up recovery and enhance strength and endurance. A course of treatment can usually be arranged if you are having localised cryotherapy for body contouring and skin conditions, similarly with pain and inflammation treatment spacing can be advised upon with your practitioner.
There are no absolute contraindications to localised cryotherapy, however there are precautionary contraindicators to consider, some of these are listed below;
Straight away!
Localised cryotherapy specially targets a certain area, keeping the rest of the body and skin in tact protected from the cold. It is direct and you will often have a course of treatment, it’s used more for skin rejuvenation, tightening and specific injury points to combat inflammation. Whole-body is more intense, and much colder due to the nature of the treatment and the experience within the chamber or sauna, full body repair is enhanced rather than localised skin repair in a specific area.
The HydraFacial™ treatment is a novel concept in aesthetic technology. It takes its name from the word ‘hydrate’- to cause to take up moisture. This ability to moisturise the skin separates the HydraFacial™ from all other skin resurfacing procedures. The HydraFacial™ treatment removes dead skin cells and extracts impurities, while simultaneously infusing the fresh skin with cleansing, hydrating and moisturising serums. The treatment is soothing, refreshing, and non-irritating. Most importantly, it is immediately effective whilst at the same time making significant contribution to long-lasting skin health.
The HydraFacial™ treatment is designed for all ages, skin colours and types. Even the most sensitive skin can readily tolerate the HydraFacial treatment. One of our Aesthetic Therapists, will advise on specific treatment protocols and where appropriate customise the treatment for your personal skin conditions and needs.
Treatment is not appropriate for those who:
In addition, it is necessary for all patients undergoing treatment to avoid Retinol and Retin-A products for two days before and after treatment.
The treatment itself will typically take between 40 and 50 minutes, depending on the precise nature of the treatment selected.
No – the treatment is comfortable and relaxing with immediate benefits. You can return to your normal activities straight away after the treatment is completed.
You are likely to see an immediate improvement in your skin after just one treatment. Specific skin concerns (for example acne, or pigmentation) are likely to require several treatments for full benefit. For optimum results in the medium to long term, regular sessions every four to six weeks are recommended, combined with an appropriate regime of medical grade skincare products.
Our HydraFacial treatments are undertaken by our Aesthetic Therapists team.
Laser technology can sound intimidating but it is actually a very straightforward and safe treatment when performed by a skilled professional – which is always the case at Skin Medical. Laser hair removal treatment has been used to remove hair for almost two decades and has been approved by the USA’s Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for permanent hair reduction.
The number of treatments required varies from person to person. We usually advise that a minimum of 6-8 treatments will be required. For some people this is enough. Others may need top-up treatments.
The length of each treatment varies depending on the size of the area being treated. The average treatment time is 30/60 minutes and the maximum treatment time is usually around two hours. For smaller areas, such as parts of the face or neck, the treatment can take as little as 5-15 minutes. For full body hair removal we would usually say 45/60 minutes.
The procedure has been approved by the USA’s Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for permanent hair reduction and long lasting hair removal. After the initial course of treatments patients will see a substantial hair reduction in the treated area.
After an initial course of six treatments, top-up or maintenance treatments may be recommended. Patients only need these occasionally (perhaps one to two times a year) to maintain the result. However any hair which does grow back tends to be lighting and finer than the hair grower prior to treatment. It also grows less frequently and is easier to remove.
Thanks to advancements in technology, dark skin types can now be treated with laser hair removal. However it is still more complicated than for lighter skin types. Hair removal by laser works by attacking the melanin (pigment) within the hair. High levels of melanin are also contained in dark skin so there is a risk that the skin may also be affected. It is therefore essential to always visit a skilled professional, who will be able to expertly assess that you are a suitable candidate for laser hair removal. At U.K Aesthetics Lounge, our practitioners can assess this and recommend the best treatment plan for your skin type. Our lasers are diode models which have a higher success rate with dark skin than other models.
The only areas we don’t treat are the eyes and the scalp. All other areas of the body can be treated with laser hair removal.
Laser hair removal cost is often not as expensive as you would expect. It is actually a lot more cost-effective than waxing, threading, shaving and IPL, especially considering how much longer the effects last. At U.K Aesthetics Lounge we have a clear price system to ensure you know exactly what you’re paying for. We’re transparent about our prices – to find out more information please call and talk to our team.
At U.K Aesthetics Lounge we offer single treatment prices (pay as you go), unlike other clinics. You are under no obligation to have a course of treatment. However we do also offer courses of six treatments, which receive a 30% discount. We also offer packages which include further substantial discounts.
We have a price match promise.
At U.K Aesthetics Lounge our diode laser machine is manufactured by an international provider of medical equipment that has an excellent industry reputation.
Our diode lasers are considered to be the ‘gold standard’ for hair removal within the industry and they have an excellent clinical success record. They are also suitable for all skin types. One of its key features is the cool tip which controls the heat exchange between the laser and patient – and makes the treatment more comfortable.
Our diode lasers are fast, non-invasive and cover large areas quickly. They are also approved by the FDA for their safety and effectiveness.
Yes. Anyone can be considered for treatment.
At U.K Aesthetics Lounge we do not treat women for laser hair removal who are currently pregnant or breastfeeding. We also do not treat patients who are under 18.
There is no ‘recovery’ period for laser hair removal. However we do advise you to avoid certain things after treatment such as UV exposure, contact sports, and hot baths or showers. At U.K Aesthetics Lounge we will provide you with full information regarding aftercare.
Hair reduction can sometimes be seen immediately but most of the results will be visible within three weeks of treatment and can be assisted by gentle exfoliation e.g. using a loofah or washcloth in the shower. Any apparent ‘new growth’ that occurs within the 10 days after treatment is actually dead head and will soon be shed. Any growth after around 5 weeks is new hair – this means the hair has gone through a full growth cycle. Once regrowth occurs that means it is time for the next treatment. Over the course of treatment, the regrowth will become less and less frequent.
The light from the light transmits light energy along the pigment in the hair (known as melanin). This energy damages and disables the hair follicle on reaching the root – stopping the hair from growing back.
Although melanin exists in both hair and skin, the aim of laser hair removal is to target only the melanin in the hair. The scientific name for this principle is selective photothermolysis.
The CO2 Fractional resurfacing laser is carbon dioxide laser which precisely removes deep outer layers of damaged skin and stimulates the regeneration of healthy skin underneath. The CO2 treats fine to moderately deep wrinkles, photo damage, scarring, skin tone, texture, crepiness and laxity.
The exact time depends on the area that is being treated; However, typically it takes two hours or less to complete. This timeframe includes an additional 30 minutes for topical numbing to be applied prior to treatment.
The CO2 is the most invasive laser treatment that we have. The co2 does cause some discomfort, but we ensure that our patients are comfortable throughout the whole procedure. The sensation that is often felt is similar to a “pins and needles” sensation.
After your skin heals, which may take up to 3 weeks, patients will experience a period of their skin appearing slightly pink. During this time, you will see improvements of skin texture and tone. Full results can be seen 3-6 months after the initial treatment, once the skin has completely healed.
Improvements from an CO2 laser treatment can be seen for many years after treatment. Results can be prolonged with diligent use of SPF+, avoided sun exposure and with the correct at home skincare maintenance.
The CO2 can be treated on specialized areas, such as the eyes and around the mouth; However, the most popular areas to treat with the IPL laser are the full face and neck.
Yes, there is downtime associated with a CO2 laser treatment. Plan for 7-10 days for healing before you can go out in public. Your skin will scab and peel 2-7 days after treatment, and will be pink for 3-4 weeks. The exact healing time varies between person to person.
Most patients only need 1 or 3 sessions depending on what you’re getting done for the full benefits of CO2 treatment. However, some patients with deeper wrinkles or scarring may need multiple treatments to see better results, i.e 4/6 sessions
Like any medical procedure, there are risks associated with a co2 laser treatment. During your consultation your provider will make an assessment to ensure that you are the right candidate for the co2 laser treatment. If you experience any worrisome side effects after and IPL treatment, please call the practice immediately.
CO2 laser treatment may not be safe for those with certain health problems. CO2 laser treatment is not recommended for patients who are currently taking Accutane. Those with a history of difficulty healing or scarring are not candidates, as well as those with bleeding disorders. Those who are pregnant or breastfeeding are not a candidate for the CO2 laser.
There are three separate groups the CO2 laser applies to: the younger patient with severe acne scars, the middle-aged patient with wrinkles and age spots, and the older patient with wrinkles, age spots and pre-cancerous lesions.
